Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the MHS Alumni website (the "Site"), operated by Mackenzie High School ("MHS," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site including browsing the alumni directory or submitting an alumni profile you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site. Information on how we handle your personal data is set out separately in our Privacy Policy.

1. About this site

The Site allows former students of Mackenzie High School to submit a profile describing their time at the school and their achievements since graduating. Submitted profiles are reviewed by school administrators before they are published to the public directory. We may also feature select alumni in a "Hall of Fame" section at our discretion.

2. Eligibility

The Site is intended for individuals who have attended or graduated from Mackenzie High School, and members of the public wishing to browse the alumni directory. By submitting a profile, you confirm that the information relates to you personally, or that you are otherwise authorized to submit it on the subject's behalf.

3. Content you submit

When you submit a profile, photo, biography, achievement documents, or any other material through the Site ("Submitted Content"), you remain the owner of that content. By submitting it, you grant MHS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Site and in connection with promoting the school and its alumni community, for as long as your profile remains published.

You are responsible for ensuring that:

• The information you submit is accurate and not misleading
• You own or have the right to submit any photos or documents you upload
• Your Submitted Content does not infringe on the rights, including copyright or privacy rights, of any third party
• Your Submitted Content does not contain anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate

You may request removal or correction of your Submitted Content at any time by contacting us using the details at the end of these Terms.

4. Review, moderation, and removal

All submitted profiles are reviewed by school administrators before publication. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to approve, deny, edit, or remove any Submitted Content at any time, including after publication, without prior notice, for any reason including if we believe the content is inaccurate, inappropriate, or violates these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or impersonating information about yourself or another person
• Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes on another person's rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, including administrative areas
• Use any automated system to scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Site
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site or its underlying infrastructure
• Use contact information published on the Site (including social media links or phone numbers) for unsolicited commercial messaging or harassment

6. Ownership of the site

Except for Submitted Content, all content on the Site including its design, layout, graphics, logos, and text is owned by or licensed to Mackenzie High School and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the Site without our prior written permission.

7. Third-party links

Alumni profiles may include links to third-party websites or social media profiles submitted by the alumnus themselves. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site linked from the Site.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information published including information submitted by alumni is accurate, current, or complete. Alumni profiles reflect information provided by the individuals themselves and have not been independently verified beyond our standard review process.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mackenzie High School shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, or from any Submitted Content posted by another user, including but not limited to loss of data, reputation, or opportunity.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site, or remove your Submitted Content, at any time and without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. Any disputes arising from your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Guyana.
